Wendy received her M.S. from CSU studying under several top researchers in the equine industry. Her primary advisers were Elaine Carnevale, DVM, PhD; Ed Squires, PhD; George Siedel, PhD; Pat McCue, DVM and Jason Bruemmer, PhD. Wendy's thesis research focused on equine embryo vitrification. The research lead to the launch of the commercially available vitrification kit offered for sale via AB Technology. The publication of Wendy's thesis research can be found in the journal Theriogenology 2005;63:1038-1319 titled Establishment of pregnancies after serial dilution or direct transfer by vitrified equine embryos.
In addition to thesis research, Wendy assisted in the oocyte transfer department. There she learned oocyte and embryo morphology, grading, manipulation, maturation/culture and media preparation. Wendy also assisted with surgical oocyte transfer, ovary dissection for oocyte recovery and trans-vaginal follicular aspiration.
As a graduate student, Wendy was a wet lab instructor for the world-renowned CSU reproduction short courses held for Embryo Transfer and Mare/Stallion Reproduction.

Wendy’s riding background started with her mother Pat Eldridge thinking horseback riding would be a fun activity for her 10-year-old daughter. Little did she know it would be the most expensive activity ever suggested, HA! Wendy Dawn started riding with Virginia Wiseman at Grenadier Farm in Danville, Virginia. For those of you who may know Mrs. Wiseman, she is one of the greatest balanced seat instructors in Southside Virginia. She served as a mentor and role model for Wendy Dawn growing up. Mrs. Wiseman is one of the major reasons Wendy Dawn chose to make horses her career.
As Wendy, known as Dawn at Grenadier, progressed in her riding she was allowed to work with the foals, weanlings, yearlings and 2 year olds, this is where her interest in breeding really started. Mrs. Wiseman always had a few really nice home bred babies around and she could watch them grown up and see the exciting change from playful baby to well trained fox hunters and eventers. Wendy Dawn worked with lots of these foals and competed several of them through USEA Training Level Eventing. She also schooled these young horses with Olympic instructors including Jim Wofford, Karen and David O’Connor. Wendy Dawn was a junior member of the Sedgefield Hunt Club in Rockingham County, NC and introduced numerous young horses to the atmosphere of hunting and the hounds.
Through college at Virginia Tech and Colorado State, Wendy continued to event and competed Feliz Wind (MW Equine’s foundation mare). Feliz has been a part of the family since the spring of 1999 and has produced fabulous foals for the operation. Currently, Wendy is training Finally Friday MW and Perun MW and hope to start their competition careers soon.
